Hiking in the mountains
Hiking in the mountains

With just around 300 wreaths and 200 poinsettias, this years wreath sale was one of the largest money makers in recent years. Over 40 scouts from our Pack hit the streets in October and early November to sell the wreaths and poinsettias throughout the area. With the annual den challenge to see which den could rack up the most sales, cubs teamed up to cover neighborhoods making sure to hit most of the homes in town. This effort was clearly evident as the totals came in after the November pack meeting and it was announced that there was just over $8400 in sales for the entire pack.

On Saturday morning, November 30, scouts families gathered to decorate the wreaths. Each wreath was decorate with a bow, a couple of pinecones and some holiday ornaments. The many pinecones where collected by the scouts prior to the decorating, many having been pre-wired by families to ease the time to take to decorate the wreaths.

A big Thank You to Jenny who coordinated this years sale. She was also able to secure a donation from Walmart of Avon and Bristol, as well as a donation from The Home Depot of nearly 600 Bulbs. Also a big thanks to Robert for the donation of the space in his garage, the heat and overnight storage of the wreaths and poinsettias.

The Pack keeps about half of this which goes towards funding awards, camp outs, overnights, and other activities our cubs get to enjoy.

More pictures from the wreath sale are online under the members section. Be sure to check them out.
